King Neptunes - Bites & Sites - Restaurant Review
When we first planned our trip to gulf shores we hadn't planned on eating out much. A friend of Andrew's heard we were down there and said King Neptune's was worth the try. They advertise as being one of the best restaurants on the island. Are they right? We can't say for sure, but in this post, we will go over our first impressions and overall experience.
Ambiance and Decor: 4 out of 5 Stars
It was described to us as a hole in the wall, and honestly it was about what I expected. Was everything nice and new and updated? No. But it was clean, and I didn't notice any obvious issues. Overall, it had a hometown mom and pop vibe minus the mom and pop checking to see how you were doing. I believe given the laid back nature it was perfect for a laid back meal. If you check out my YouTube you can see the interior and tables to get a better view of what to expect.
Service: 4.5 out 5 Stars
We ate around lunch time 12, and I was suprised they weren't very busy. The woman waited on us towards the end, I believe her name was Jackie, and she was amazing. She checked on us, and was very attentive. 10 out of 10 for her.
Waiting Time: 5 out of 5 Stars
Possibly because of the time we went, but we really didn't have a wait for a table. We did have a small wait once we were seated.
Beverages:
We both got water so I can't really comment on the quality of the drinks beyond that. The water was good.
Kids Meals:
We didn't get any kids meals on this trip but they seemed to be reasonably priced.
Toddler Activities:
There weren't really any toddler activites. Honestly, I can't remember if they brought us a high chair, but I know if they did, she didn't use it.
Bathrooms: 3 of 5 stars.
The bathroom was outdoors, which I found odd. But two positive points; it was clean, and it had a changing table.
Food: 5 out of 5
Ok, so here's the must have. This is what you really come for anyway, right? I am not a seafood person, but Andrew wanted to try this place before we left. I didn't expect to like it, but from one seafood person and one non-seafood person, we both agreed it was the best catfish we have ever eaten. (Sorry Harper's) It was so good, melt in your mouth good. Just thinking about it, I wish I could have more.
Overall Price and Value - 4.3 out of 5 Stars.
I mark this as a must go back; I definitely want to eat here again. The food was good, there wasn't a long wait, and the people were friendly. It was clean, and the vibe was good. Plus they had a changing table.
Other things I plan to review in the future but no idea for this restaurant.
Specialty Dishes and Chef's Recommendations:
Allergen and Dietary Accommodations:
Desserts and After-Dinner Treats:
Best on the island? Definitely the best place we went to, but we'll have to try a few more before we can say for sure if they are the best. But the are definitely a must try.
If you check it out, let me know what you thought!
